ABOUT OUR TEACHERS

We are lucky enough to have 2 of the most talented, creative, experienced, and friendly teachers in the world on our staff. Here's a little bit about each of them:

Miss Karen

Hi!  My name is Miss Karen and I am so happy to be here at the State College Cooperative Playschool.  I moved to the area from Reno, Nevada in mid-August to live with and help my son and daughter-in-law and my two grandsons - Ian (6) and Aaron (4).  We live in Port Matilda on a 10-acre farm.  My son is a professor at PSU, and my daughter-in-law is his research associate.  I have two other grown children who live in Reno, as well as a beautiful 13-year-old granddaughter.

I have an elementary education degree, an English minor, and have graduate classes in counseling and educational psychology.  My last ten years were spent as the director/teacher or a preschool in Reno.  I was lucky to be able to be a "stay-at-home" mom while my children were growing up and consider that my greatest joy.  My family lived in Bangkok, Thailand and Taipei, Taiwan and my children attended international schools for many years.  Although I've travelled extensively as a result of living overseas, I am now happy to live a more peaceful life and enjoy being able to help your children develop a love of learning through play.

Miss. Susan

Hello!  My name is Susan Rambeau and I am very excited to work with the Cooperative Playschool.  I am looking forward to knowing the children and families of the Co-op.

I graduated in May from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a baccalaureate in early childhood as well as elementary education.  I also have a minor in educational psychology and a concentration in reading.  I have a desire to go back to school for my masters in literacy with a reading specialist certificate and eventually own my own preschool.

Throughout my time at IUP, I worked at the Children's Express Child Care Center.  I am the group supervisor for the school-age summer program and have also worked with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.  I am continuing to work at the center on Tuesdays/Thursdays.  After college, I was looking for a change and I found it with the Cooperative Playschool.

I am looking to move to State College but as for now, I am living in Loretto with my family.  I am very happy to get ot know everyone and work with you to make your child's experience the best yet!  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
